Charleston & Savannah

Structured to deepen students’ understanding of the Civil War and its lasting impact o American society, this educational journey takes students through the historic cities of Charleston and Savannah. In Charleston, students will enjoy a scenic horse-drawn carriage ride and take part in the Slavery to Freedom tour, offering powerful insights into the city’s role in shaping the nation. The visit to Fort Sumter—where the first shots of the Civil War were fired—along with a stop at the South Carolina Aquarium, adds depth and variety to the experience. A ghost and graveyard walking tour brings Charleston’s layered history to life. In Savannah, students will explore the First African Baptist Church, a landmark of the Underground Railroad, and take a guided trolley tour through the city’s historic district.
